The Florida Gulf Coast University Biscayne Hall project is the second dormitory building in the South Housing Village development. It is the first project on the campus to use solar hot water heating for showers and daily use. The project uses Energy Recovery Units to treat the outside air to reduce the amount of chill water use by one third over the previous building. This 124,500-square-foot, five-story building contains 410 beds. The project is LEED® Silver certified. The LEED green building certification program is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of green buildings.
